We always appreciate donations to help us in maintaining and improving Naylor Observatory and the equipment owned by the society.
The primary objective of the Astronomical Society of Harrisburg is be to promote the interest, education and advancement of its members in amateur astronomy. The Society also supports the education of the public in astronomy, astronomical research, space exploration, the fight against light pollution and other areas of interest that are closely related to astronomy. The Society is a IRS Code 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization.
To support the local community in the greater Harrisburg area, we operate and maintain Naylor Observatory located in Lewisberry, PA. We host scheduled public observing events as well as for organized groups who request a private event. We have supported numerous groups including college and high school classes, scouting organizations, various youth groups and any other group interested in astronomy education. Members of the society volunteer to host and are critical to the operation of these events. We also request volunteers from within the society to support groups and other organizations in hosting events at sites they arrange.
